The use of simple, accurate and inexpensive genome editing methods for genetic modification is shaking up the world of research. Following on from guidance document no 11 on the use of these techniques for editing plant genomes, this document focuses on the case of farm animals and wild species considered undesirable, especially insects. What limits should be placed on such modifications of animal species?
